Customers
The Customer entity represents the profile of a natural or legal person within your Webround Commerce ecosystem. Whether it is a user purchasing online or a contact entered manually in your management panel, the system allows for complete and secure data management.
Customer Types and Access
In Webround, there are two ways to register a customer:
- Self-Registration: The user creates an account directly on your store via the authentication flow. In this case, they can log in, manage their profile, and consult their order history.
- Manual Entry: You can enter customer records directly from the management panel. These records are purely administrative: manually entered customers cannot authenticate. To do so, they must follow the site's standard registration procedure.
Advanced Management and Customization
Webround is not just an email database, but a flexible tool for your business:
- Metadata: You can use metadata fields to store specific, non-standard information. For example, if you are a personal trainer, you can track the weight, goals, or progress of your athletes directly in their customer file.
- Newsletter: It is possible to track marketing consent for sending communications and newsletters.
- VAT Exemption (B2B): Through the VatCode and VatExempt fields, you can flag a customer so that VAT is not applied at checkout.
Important: To ensure the correct application of the exemption even via Stripe Tax, make sure the customer's email on Stripe matches the one on Webround and that the exemption status is aligned on both platforms.
Security, Privacy, and GDPR
Webround is an Italian tool designed for the European market and, as such, is GDPR compliant.
Responsibility and Consent
You are the data controller: do not disclose sensitive information (addresses, phone numbers, emails) without a valid technical reason and ensure you have a clear Privacy and Cookie Policy. Registration must always be explicit and consensual.
Authentication Flows (Auth)
- Email Verification: After registration, the user must verify their email. Without this verification, operations as an authenticated user are blocked. You can send the verification or password reset email directly from the management panel.
- 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication): The user can activate 2FA security. If active, a code will be required at every login and for critical operations such as account deletion.
- Right to be Forgotten and Anonymization: When a registered user requests deletion but has made purchases, Webround proceeds with anonymization rather than total deletion. This allows for GDPR compliance by protecting user privacy without breaking the accounting integrity of the orders placed.
Payments and Customer Portal
Webround Commerce does not store payment methods (credit cards, IBAN, etc.) to ensure maximum security: all financial management takes place on Stripe.
To allow your users to manage their subscriptions or change their default credit card, you must configure the Stripe Customer Portal URL in the store settings. You can find this link in your Stripe dashboard (by searching for "Billing Portal" or "Customer Portal"). Once configured, the user will be able to access a secure area on Stripe directly from their account on your site to manage every aspect of their payments.
